Alphabet Coasters

Look, I made something. Drink coasters.
Fun and simple. I used some wonderful vintage alphabet images supplies by The Graphics Fairy. Make sure you visit her wonderful site! The cool thing is, you could use any images you wanted. Kids, grandkids, pets, whatever.
Here’s what I used:
  • 4x4 ceramic tiles
  • Modge Podge
  • Pictures
First, I selected my images and printed them to fit on the tiles. Technically, the tiles are 4.25 inches. So I printed all my images at 4x4”. The tiles are available from your local blue or orange.

Second, applied a good coat of podge to the top of the tiles and placed the picture. I did one tile at a time.

Third, wait till the podge is dry.

Fourth, applied several coats of podge over the top of each tile and picture. I did three coats. Be sure to cover everything. You don’t want any water getting in there. Remember, these are to set your favorite cold beverages on.

Fifth, I used a sanding block to sand any sharp edges off the bottom. I used 320 grit. It only takes a few passes on each side of the tile.

Last, I stuck on some self adhesive rubber grippers to keep them from sliding around or scratching up the furniture. You can find these in little packs at your local hardware, or even Walmart.

I’ve actually made several sets of these with different types of pictures. Great little Christmas gifts!

What do you think? Would you try this?

I'm always looking for coasters big enough for my coffee mugs and these would fit the bill. Adorable!
