Nutella Stuffed French Toast

Bread, stuffed with nutty goodness. Nuff said.

A couple weeks ago I made Cream Cheese and Raspberry stuffed French Toast. Pretty tasty, but Davin doesn’t care for Cream Cheese. But…he does like Nutella.

Like all my recipes, it’s not science. No really, I just throw shit in a bowl and mix it up. So make it how you want. Traditional stuffed French Toast is exactly that, stuffed. I like to keep things simple. Oh, and I’m cheap. So instead of buying an $8 loaf of bread, filleting each piece and filling with super sticky Nutella, I used Texas Toast, which you can find at most Walmarts or local grocery stores. I simply lathered up one side nice and thick with Nutella, then made a sandwich out of it.

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter (melted)
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • salt for taste
  • Texas Toast or other thick bread

Wisk all ingredients together. Cover one side of a piece of bread with Nutella. Add another piece of bread to make a sandwich. In a shallow bowl, dip both sides of bread in mixture. Grill both sides until golden brown. Sprinkle with powdered sugar, add syrup, serve and enjoy.

For me, this was pretty sweet. A lot sweet. A little Nutella goes a long ways. You were warned. I think this would be great with some fresh raspberries or blueberries on top of it!

Are you a Nutella fan?

Is It?

Well, is it?

We all say it; “It is what it is”. But is it, really? I don’t think so. I say, “It Is What You Make It.”

I think that’s just an excuse. I think that’s just us being lazy. If you don’t like the way something is, do something about it.

You are smart. You are strong. You are a voice. Be heard.

Feel free to print and/or share this. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Like a Weed

The flower, not the boy.

This isn’t much to look at, without the back story. Davin grew this flower from a seed, over 1 year ago! His first grade class grew them from seeds, in paper cups. Once they were rooted, they brought them home. Needless to say, the waxy, paper cup didn’t last long. I transplanted it into its own pot. It continued to grow. It had two separate stems, the longest one was over a foot long. Everything was going great. Was.

Out of the blue, it just started to die. I hadn’t changed anything in regards to watering, light or temperature. So I have no idea what happened. As it lay there, on its deathbed, I decided not to bury it. Instead, I uprooted it, cut it back, and put it a jar of water. After about 3 weeks, it started growing new roots. Within about 2 weeks of their starting growth, they grew over 4 inches! And here we are, about a month and half later. Our first bloom!

Now, I just have to hope that it can withstand being re-planted, again. We’ll see?
